Up to 100 people may have been killed as tornadoes and storms hit several US states over the weekend, toppling buildings and trapping people inside. US media outlets reported the death toll is expected to exceed 100 in Kentucky alone, with dozens still unaccounted for as crews are scrambling to search wreckage.
President Joe Biden says the deadly system is likely to be “one of the largest tornado outbreaks in US history” as he pledged to “provide whatever is needed” to people in need.
Almost 60,000 people have been left without power, according to Kentucky's Governor Andy Beshear.
