Vietnam readies security for APEC 2017 leaders’ week

PSNews – Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security on October 24 in collaboration with central ministries, agencies and the Da Nang Provincial People Committee held a send-off ceremony for security forces responsible for security of the upcoming APEC High-level Week.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the APEC National Committee Pham Binh Minh; Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the APEC’s Subcommittee for Security and Healthcare; Mr. Truong Quang Nghia, Secretary of the Da Nang Municipal Party Committee; leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Health and other central and local agencies.

The event was participated in by thousands of police officers and modern vehicles from the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam said that, over the past time, the public security forces and the military have ensured absolute safety and security for about 100 APEC’s events across the country.

All relevant forces have drawn up and deployed the best protection plans and are now ready to perform their duties, he added.

“The 25th APEC Summit’s events will take place in Da Nang and last for 13 days. The APEC’s Subcommittee for Security and Healthcare is actively leading its subordinate forces to perform security missions to ensure absolute safety and security for the APEC 2017 High-level Week,” he affirmed.

Addressing the event, on behalf of the Party and the State, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc lauded the efforts of police and military forces and local administrations to successfully organize APEC meetings.

The Prime Minister noted the special importance of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang, which will take place from November 6-11. He asked all authorities and sectors ensure absolute safety for this event.

Prime Minister Phuc urged the armed forces to carry out a proactive, broad-based, drastic plan so that criminals will not have any conditions to sabotage, despite any acts or delusions.

On behalf of the Central Pubic Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security and all the forces involved into the plan of protecting the APEC 2017 High-level Week, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam thanked the Party and the State for the special attention to the work of ensuring security and safety for the Vietnam largest diplomatic event in 2017.
