Vietnamese peacekeepers leave for UNISFA

184 members of the Vietnamese peacekeeping forces, including the Military Engineering Unit Rotation 1 and the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 4, departed for South Sudan on April 27.

A grand farewell ceremony for them was held at Noi Bai International Airport on the same day. The Vietnamese  military engineers of the Military Engineering Unit Rotation 1 will join the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

Speaking at the ceremony, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc applauded the nation’s contributions to UN peacekeeping operations over the past years, noting that positive results of the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Force’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations would enrich the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, country and people. He also extended best wishes to the peacekeepers.
