Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 8 sent condolences to the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida over former PM Shinzo Abe’s passing.
In the telegram, PM Chinh expressed his appreciation for the special affection and valuable support that former PM Abe had given the country and people of Vietnam as well as the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also sent his condolences to Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
Abe was shot dead while campaigning in the city of Nara on July 8. The assassin was arrested shortly after the shooting.
