Lawmakers discussed reports on the implementation of the NA’s resolutions on socio-economic development plan and the State budget estimate for 2018, the mid-term implementation of 2016-2020 plans related to socio-economic, economic restructuring, national financial and mid-term investment affairs, and the outcomes of the three-year implementation of the policies targeting mountainous and ethnic-inhabited areas.

During the session, the legislature adopted a resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2019, one on the 2019 State budget projection, one on the State budget allocation for 2019 and another on adjustments to the medium-term public investment plan for 2016-2020.

Legislative work is one of the important contents of the session, Tung stated, adding that lawmakers approved nine laws and one resolution, and debated six other bills. The passed laws and resolution are the revised Law on Amnesty, the Law on Crop Production, the Law on Animal Husbandry, the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guards, the law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Protection of State Secrets, the revised Law on Corruption Prevention and Control, the revised Law on People’s Public Security Forces, and the law on amendments and supplements to several articles of 37 laws related to planning, as well as the resolution ratifying the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and relevant documents.

The NA reviewed reports and conducted a question-and-answer session on the implementation of the legislature’s resolutions on thematic supervision and that of question-and-answer sessions since the beginning of the tenure until the end of the fourth session. The content of the Q&A session covered a large scale, with many ideas related to the leadership, direction and administration in almost all the fields in both executive and judicial affairs, Tung said.

The official also shared that the legislative body well conducted a vote of confidence on 48 officials holding positions elected or approved by the legislature.

The work was implemented carefully, thoroughly, responsibly and seriously, Tung said, adding that the results of the work showed the objectivity of NA deputies in assessing the performance of the officials, and will serve as a foundation for those subject to the work to promote their achievements, learn from experience and address weaknesses to fulfill their tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.

The legislature devoted appropriate length of time to reviewing reports on crime and legal violation prevention, the execution of judgments, corruption prevention and control, the settlement of complaints and denunciations, and the works of the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and the Procurator General of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

It also adopted the sixth session’s resolution that will include the adjustment to the programme on building laws and ordinances in 2019, the extension of the implementation of the NA’s Resolution 30/2016/QH14 on the pilot issuance of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam in two years from February 1, 2019, and the assignment of the building of a national land use strategy until 2045 to the Government, Tung added.
