Front sets targets, action programmes for 2024-2029 tenure

The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) concluded on October 18 in Hanoi with the release of a resolution clarifying 10 specific targets and six action programmes in the 2024-2029 tenure.

The six action programmes include those on increasing communications to unite people of all walks of life, strengthening social consensus, promoting the strength of the great national solidarity bloc, improving the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, and promoting democracy and the engagement in Party and State building.

They also focus on encouraging people of all walks of life to participate in emulation movements, promoting the mastery role and self-management of the people, building a united, prosperous, and happy residential areas, improving the effectiveness of people diplomacy overseas Vietnamese affairs, and continuing to innovate the organisational structure and operation methods of the front, and improving the capacity of the front's officials at all levels.

Along with the approval of reports on the performance of the VFF Central Committee, Presidium, and Standing Board in the 2019-2024 tenure, delegates adopted the revised and supplemented Charter of the front.

They agreed that in the 2019-2024 tenure, amid numerous challenges from the regional and the world situation as well as impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the front managed to complete all targets and tasks set at the 9th National Congress with considerable achievements.

The great national solidarity bloc has been firmly maintained, and the people’s close bonds with and trust in the Party and State increasingly reinforced and strengthened.

The core political role and responsibility of the front, socio-political organisations, and VFF member organisations, with the nucleus being the alliance among the working class – peasants - intellectuals, have been promoted in gathering the masses to fulfill the mission of building the great national solidarity bloc, taking peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilisation, and happiness as the common goal in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Its committees at all levels and member organisations have strongly renovated their operation methods, acting as an important connection point between the Party and administration and the people, promoting the role of the people in the social life, and representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interest of the people.

At the congress, delegates approved a list of 397 members of the 10th VFF Central Committee. At the first session of the committee, Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation to the VFF, and President of the 9th VFF Central Committee, was elected as the President of the 10th Central Committee of the front for the 2024-2029 tenure.

Themed "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity – Development”, the 10th VFF National Congress called on Vietnamese people at home and abroad to strongly promote tradition and strengths from the great national solidarity bloc, upholding the spirit of self-reliance, creativity and joint efforts to settle national issues, striving to successfully implement the socio-economic development strategy for the 2021-2030 period, completing the 100-year target set by the Party, creating a firm foundation for the country to enter a new development era, building a nation of peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilisation and happiness, and advancing to socialism.
