Party and State of Laos honor senior leaders of Vietnam with noble orders

PSNews-On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between Vietnam and the Laos, on July 18, the People’s Revolutionary Party and State of Laos held a ceremony to award the Lao National Gold Medals and First Class Medals of Freedom, the highest award of the Lao Party and State, to senior leaders of Vietnam.

The ceremony saw the participation of Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, Member of Politburo, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, Deputy State President of Laos and other members of the high-ranking delegation of Laos on their visit to Vietnam to attend a series of activities in celebration of the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Year.

The senior leaders of Vietnam attending the ceremony included Secretary General Nguyen PhuTrong, State President Tran Dai Quang, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and other members of the Politburo, leaders of ministries, and central agencies.

Under the decisions made by the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Lao Party and State awarded the National Gold Medals to Vietnam’s State President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan while the First-class Medals of Freedom were awarded to the Central Organization Commission’s Chairman Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission Tran QuocVuong, Head of the Central Communications and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Truong Thi Mai, Head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Minister of Public Security To Lam, Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, Chief of the Central Party Committee Office Nguyen Van Nen, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army Luong Cuong, Chief Judge of the People's Supreme Court Nguyen Hoa Binh.

On behalf of the Party, State of Laos, Mr. PhankhamViphavanh presented the National Gold Orders, the First Class Orders of Freedom to the senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phankham Viphavanh stressed that the Lao Party and State’s bestowing the noble rewards has demonstrated the recognition, appreciation and deep gratitude of the Party, State and people of Laos to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their great, valuable and effective assistance and support for the Lao revolutionary cause in the Lao struggle for national independence in the past as well as in the current Lao national construction and protection cause.

Vietnam’s State President Tran Dai Quang emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have always treasured the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, which are regarded as invaluable assets of the two peoples founded and fostered by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, Chairman Souphanouvong and generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries.

On the occasion, President Tran Dai Quang expressed his wish that the Lao people, under the far-sighted leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party will continue to obtain greater achievements in its renovation process, successfully implement the Resolution of the 10th Lao People's Revolutionary Party Congress and the 8th Economic and Social Development Plan, contributing to building Laos as a country of  peace, independence, democracy, unity and prosperity.
