Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission holds 29th session

The Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee held its 29th session from September 10-12, looking into several cases of wrongdoings and violations at agencies and localities and deciding punishment accordingly.

In an announcement on September 14, the commission said it had assessed the reviews conducted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Government Office, the Ministry of Public Security and the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province on their responsibilities related to wrongdoings in the Mobifone’s acquisition of 95 percent of stakes in the multimedia company Audio Visual Global (AVG).

The Inspection Commission requested that Party committees and Party organisations of the aforementioned ministries and locality instruct the examination and handling of collectives and individuals involved in the case.

The commission will report to the Party Central Committee Secretariat so that the Secretariat will deal with related individuals under the management of the Party Central Committee.

On the violations committed by the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Logistics-Technique General Department (General Department IV) under the Ministry of Public Security and related individuals, the commission decided to give warnings as a disciplinary measure to Lieutenant General Bui Xuan Son, former member of the Standing Board of the Party Committee and former Deputy General Director of the General Department IV.

The commission required the Standing Board of the Central Public Security Commission to decide disciplinary measures in accordance with its competence against the Standing Board of the Party Committee of General Department IV (tenure 2015-2020).

The commission also examined the case of Tran Van Minh, former member of the Party Central Committee and former deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation, who has been suspended from Party membership. It concluded that while serving as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang city, Minh had violated the democratic centralism principle and anti-corruption regulations as well as rules on land and public asset management, causing great losses and waste of state budget.

The commission was of the view that those violations were very serious, affecting the prestige of the Party committee and administration of Da Nang and causing indignation in society. It proposed that the Politburo and the Party Central Committee expel Minh from the Party.

During the 29th meeting, the inspection commission also considered disciplinary measures for several other cases.
