PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrives in Japan

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Vietnamese Government delegation arrived at Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Japan, at 14:50pm (local time) on June 27, to attend the 14th G20 Summit and visit Japan at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe. 

The PM was met at the airport by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji, Chief of Protocol for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kiminori Iwama and officials of Osaka prefecture. On the Vietnamese side there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam and Consul-General in Osaka Vu Tuan Hai.

Made at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the trip will help Vietnam raise its voice along with emerging economies, contributing to tackling common issues, maintain the stability, and fight against negative trends of the global economy.

In 2010, the country first took part in the summit as the Chair of the ASEAN. 

The G20 Summit is an international high-level forum for the governments and central bank governors of 19 countries and the EU. On the sidelines, it features a number of ministerial conferences.

The 14th G20 Summit is the first major international event organized by Japan in the new era of Reiwa that began on May 1 this year.

The 14th G20 Summit will take place on June 28 and 29 in Osaka. It is expected to deal with a range of global issues concerning trade, investment, innovation and the digital economy, the environment, energy and climate change, sustainable development, employment, women’s issue and health care. 

Vietnam is among eight special guests at this year’s G20 Summit. Besides taking part in discussions, PM Phuc is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of many countries, as well as with businesses and friendship organisations in Kansai region.
