Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau highly valued Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Takebe's more than three decades of contributions to promoting Vietnam-Japan friendship and cooperation, particularly in people-to-people exchanges, local-level cooperation, education and human resource development, with the Vietnam-Japan University (VJU) project standing out as a flagship initiative.

President Vo Van Thuong’s official visit to Japan is not only an important highlight of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, but is also expected to open up a new and good period in the bilateral ties, according to experts and scholars.

Friendship and mutual trust based on people-to-people exchanges nurtured for many years have formed an impetus for the Vietnam - Japan relations, said Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamikawa Yoko.

A high-level economic seminar between Vietnam and Japan was held in Hanoi on March 7 to explore new possibilities for bilateral relations towards the future.

Since 2015 relations between Vietnam and Japan have developed substantially across all fields, marking a number of positive policies under Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s leadership.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on May 5 hosted a reception for Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Oshima Tadamori in Hanoi during which he expressed his delight at the progress in Vietnam-Japan relations over the past time.
