Deputy PM receives special advisor to Japan-Vietnam parliamentary friendship alliance

Addressing the opening session of the 13th Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union National Congress for the 2026–2031 term in Hanoi on June 25, the Party and State leader told 788 delegates representing more than 5.1 million HCYU members and nearly 22 million young people nationwide that the country is entering a new stage of development in which young people are not only inheritors of the revolutionary cause but also direct architects of the future.

For the second half, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam directed the force to safeguard national security under the Party's renewed thinking, broaden the scope of security protection, build up operational muscle, and keep national security intact.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a thematic meeting, on the afternoon of June 23, to review the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW following its third session in 2026. Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang moderated the discussions on solutions to accelerate the development of science, technology and innovation.

In the first six months of 2026, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence have provided sound strategic advice to the Party and State on military and defence matters, maintained the strategic initiative, and prevented any passive or unexpected situations. Efforts to build a politically strong army have continued alongside comprehensive Party and political work and strict implementation of the Party's resolutions and regulations.

The congress, which will last until June 25, is not only an occasion to review the achievements of the past term but also a significant milestone in defining the vision, objectives, and tasks of the youth union in the next phase, reinforcing the pioneering role of the younger generation as Vietnam approaches two major historic milestones: the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1930–2030) and the 100th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (1931–2031).

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for the Palestinian people's legitimate struggle and the Vietnamese legislature always backs efforts to expand cooperation with Palestine across various fields.

The Presidential Office held a press conference on June 23 to announce the Presidential Order promulgating two ordinances adopted by the 16th National Assembly Standing Committee at its third session.

During the visit, from June 20 to 22, Trung held meetings with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and conducted talks with Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Vietnam has emerged as a notable example of stability, maintaining a balanced foreign policy approach while actively promoting multilateral cooperation. Countries such as Vietnam are key to preserving regional equilibrium.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam emphasised that assignments must not be reduced to slogans and rejected situations where agencies report that initiatives have been launched, studied or disseminated without being able to identify completed deliverables, promulgated legal documents, simplified administrative procedures, resolved legal inconsistencies, and accountability at leadership level.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on June 22 attended a ceremony marking the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Security Academy (June 25, 1946 – 2026), while also conferring the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title on the institution for the third time.

President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap have long been respected and admired by Palestinian leaders and people, while Vietnam’s struggle for national independence has inspired generations of Palestinians.

Lan Anh, Vietnam’s candidate, secured the highest number of votes among candidates from the Asia-Pacific region in elections held on June 18 at the 36th Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) at the United Nations headquarters.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s first working trip to Russia in his new position was highly successful, continuing to implement the foreign policy of the Party and the State. It reaffirmed Vietnam’s position and responsibilities within ASEAN and contributed to the overall success of the ASEAN–Russia Commemorative Summit.

Vietnam attaches great importance to its Strategic Partnership with Germany and regards it as one of its leading partners in Europe, said top leader To Lam.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that Vietnam’s new Government wishes to work closely with the Russian Government to push forward agreements reached between General Secretary and President Lam and President Putin, thereby elevating bilateral ties comprehensively.
