Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, authorized by the President of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of Vietnam, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina Ambassador Pablo Anselmo Tettamanti, on behalf of the Argentine side, signed Agreement on Extradition and Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced persons between The Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Argentina.
The official signing of the two State-level agreements demonstrated the goodwill of the two countries to cooperate in the field of crime prevention and fight as well as to perfect the legal basis for the cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement forces.
On the occasion, authorized representatives of the two countries also signed an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
| Vietnam and Argentina established diplomatic relations on October 25, 1973 and upgraded to a Comprehensive Partnership in 2010. After half a century, despite the geographical distance, the Vietnam - Argentina relations have grown strongly, reaping many encouraging results. The two countries have formed a number of cooperation mechanisms and signed many agreements, laying a firm legal foundation for bolstering bilateral cooperation. Vietnam and Argentina are both members to many multilateral international treaties, including the United Nations Convention on Anti-Corruption, the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, the International Conventions on Drug Control, the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC), and the Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in person especially women and children, supplementing the UNTOC Convention (TIP Protocol). |
