2016-2021 Government faces huge tasks ahead

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc required the Cabinet members as well as ministries and agencies of the 2016-2021 tenure to swiftly roll out their working plans to support the Government in designing and spurring growths in service of people.

This was among the tasks assigned by the PM at the new Government’s regular meeting in Hanoi on August 1 following his presentation of the State President’s appointment decisions to each of the Cabinet members.

This is the first Cabinet meeting since the 14th National Assembly elected the Prime Minister and passed the list of Cabinet members for 2016-2021 during its first session from July 20-29.

He asked the Cabinet members to be aware of their responsibilities and grasp issues under their charge to promptly fix weaknesses, especially those of public concern, thus setting forth pragmatic solutions to improving the efficiency of State management.

Ministries and agencies should define key points in the management and administration work, map out suitable implementation measures, and promptly respond to emerging problems, he said.

“Ministries and agencies must be free from any corrupt behaviors and any deeds that could be harmful to the people. Their words and actions all serve the people and the country,” PM Phuc stressed.

The leader also urged the early issuance of working regulations of the Government, ministries and agencies to surmount the current limitations, especially the loose coordination between ministries and agencies.

Decrees stipulating missions and organisation of ministries and agencies must be issued no later than October this year, the PM said, stressing that the Government must report to the National Assembly the country’s socio-economic development within the next three months.

“Ministers and heads of agencies must take responsibility for the performance of their agencies before the Government and the legislature,” he noted.

Besides, the building and operation of the e-Government should be accelerated towards publicity and transparency to enable the public to keep a close watch on the Government’s activities.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that a Government that designs and spurs growths must make outstanding performances in developing institutions, laws and policies.

In that spirit, he requested ministries and agencies to well fulfill the tasks, devise clear and specific development strategies, and join hands with each other as well as with localities in State management.

The Cabinet members should pay due attention to information provided by news agencies as well as public feedback relating to their sectors for timely improvements, he said.

The first working session of the two-day meeting heard several draft laws and draft decrees.
