Int'l Communist and Workers’ parties enhance cooperation for common cause

The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) has concluded in Hanoi. It drew more than 100 representatives of Communist and workers parties around the globe.

The meeting encouraged the Communist Party of Vietnam in its goals of national independence, socialism, and strengthened ties with other socialist countries and communist and workers’ parties around the world.

The International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties was first held in 1998. Over the past 18 years, the meeting has attracted more than 120 Communist and Workers’ Parties from 85 countries around the world. This was the first time the Communist Party of Vietnam has hosted the meeting. It was not only an important forum for Communist and Workers’ Parties to exchange information and experience and strengthen cooperation for the common cause but also an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its renewal achievements and its role in international Communist and Workers’ movements.

Vietnam receives recognition from international parties

Meeting delegates praised Vietnam’s achievements in its national liberation struggles and renewal process and its contributions to international Communist and Workers’ Parties.

Representatives of Communist and Workers’ parties praised Vietnam’s thorough preparations for the meeting. By hosting the meeting, the Communist Party of Vietnam contributed to the international communist and workers’ movements. 

Sounthone Sayachack, Head of the External Relations Commission of the Laos Revolutionary People’s Party Central Committee said “International Workers’ Parties have great respect for Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh. Experiences of the Communist Party of Vietnam are precious to International Workers’ Parties and people around the world to parties that are struggling for peace, national independence and socialism.”

International delegates expressed their admiration for Vietnam’s achievements in national liberation struggles and renovation and its contributions to international communist and workers’ parties. 

Shelby Richardson, a member of the Communist Party of America, says the success of the Communist Party of Vietnam inspired other Communist Parties around the world.

Enhancing cooperation for the common cause

The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties discussed the international situation, theories, practices, and strategies of Communist Parties amidst the current instability around the world.

The meeting discussed cooperation mechanisms and joint efforts. Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission Tran Dac Loi said that in the midst of global crises, Communist and Workers’ parties are playing a vanguard role in ensuring the interests of the people and workers. 

Ensuring peace is one of the primary goals of communist parties who play an important role in struggles against war, invasion and intervention in order to protect national sovereignty and ensure peace and equality between nations. 

Mr Loi said “Over the past few years, Communist Parties and people around the world have demonstrated their solidarity and support for Vietnam’s national construction and defense.

At this meeting, Communist and Workers’ Parties understand Vietnam better and show their solidarity with and support for Vietnam’s national construction and defense”.

Over the past 18 years, the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties has become an important forum of communists and workers. 

The meeting helped Vietnam enhance its relationship with other communist and workers’ parties.
