PSNews - Within the framework of the ongoing trip to China, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security on October 11 met Mr. Guo Shengkun, Politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Commission of Political and Legal Affairs.

Mr. Gou warmly welcomed and spoke highly of the visit of Minister Lam and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam to China as well as the outcomes of the 6th Vietnam – China Conference on Cooperation in Crime Control, which contributed to consolidating and developing the cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples as well as law enforcement forces of the two countries.

Minister To Lam emphasized that, in the current context of the region and the world, traditional and non-traditional security crimes have developed in a more complex manner and become major security threats to various countries, requiring the public security and law enforcement forces of the two countries to strengthen their cooperation to opportunely address the new challenges.

Minister Lam also hoped that Mr. Gou would continue to give directions to promote practical and effective cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the MPS of China and other Chinese law enforcement agencies, meeting the aspirations and interests of the peoples, and contributing to ensuring security and order in each country, and maintaining peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

On the same day, Minister Lam and the Vietnamese MPS delegation also had separate meetings with Chinese Minister of State Security Chen Wenqing and Commander of Chinese People's Armed Police Wang Ning.

At the meeting between the visiting Vietnamese MPS delegation and the Chinese People’s Armed Police, the two sides agreed to promote exchanges of delegations at all levels, share information and experience in counter-terrorism, search and rescue, and protection of security for important national projects.

At the talk between the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of State Security of China, the two parties agreed to strive to protect security and safety as well as the legitimate interests and rights of citizens, enterprises of one country in the other; coordinate to ensure security and safety for high-ranking delegations, important political and social events in each country; continue to support each other in training personnel and improving law enforcement capacity for police officers as well as investing in equipment and vehicles for ensuring security.
