Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong joins the Central Public Security Party Committee

The Central Public Security Party Committee has 16 members, with its 7-member standing board including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

On September 21, at the ceremony, Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization has announced the Decision of the Politburo on the appointment of the Central Public Security Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure.

The Committee has 16 members, with its 7-member standing board including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

This is the first time a Party General Secretary has joined the Central Public Security Party Committee.

Addressing the ceremony, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized five key missions to focus in the near future. In particular, the Central Public Security Party Committee must truly be a united group to exercise its leadership over every activity of the police force.

Each member of the Central Public Security Party Committee should confront difficulties and challenges, be responsible to contribute to the joint decision of the Committee; the Committee also needs to improve its analysis to identify threats to national security in order to advise the Party and how to deal with those threats, he added.

Receiving the direction of the Party General Secretary, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security, said that it is a great honor of the Central Public Security Party Committee to have the leaders of the Party and State as its members. It expressed particular concern of the Party and State for the protection of national security and construction of the Vietnam's People's Police Forces.
