Thua Thien-Hue reburies remains of 11 Vietnamese martyrs found in Laos

PSNews - The Thua Thien -Hue Provincial Party Committee, People Council, People Committee and Fatherland Front on May 11 held a ceremony to rebury the remains of 11 fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed themselves in Laos while doing international service in wartime.

The funeral ceremony took place with the presence of representatives from the Vietnam's Government, Military Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Army, Laos' Salavan and Sekong provinces. They offered incenses and flowers to the deceased to show their gratitude towards the martyrs’ braveness and sacrifices.

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Hai, Chief of the 192 Team of the Thua Thien – Hue provincial Military High Command, the remains of the martyrs were found with their artifacts in Salavan and Sekong provinces of Laos. The unit is coordinating with the relevant agencies to get pieces of DNA to soon identify the martyrs.

Nguyen Dung, Deputy Chairman of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial People Committee, said that the search and repatriation of the martyrs' remains still in  Laos is a policy of the Party and State, reflecting the deep gratitude of the Party and State for those who sacrificed their lives for national independence of the Fatherland as well as for friendly nations.

Nearly 35,000 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers sacrificed in Laos in the wartime and 60,000 others returned home as war invalids.
