Writing in the book of condolences, the Vietnamese leader expressed his profound sorrow over the passing of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, describing it as a great loss to the Lao Party, State, NA and people, as well as to Vietnam, which had lost a great friend and loyal comrade who made important contributions to strengthening and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao host Sonexay Siphandone visited a photo exhibition on achievements in the two countries’ economic cooperation, held in Vientiane on January 12.

The two legal documents on Vietnam-Laos border were signed and adopted by competent agencies of the two nations and came into force as of September 5, 2017.

PSNews - He hoped that in the time ahead, the two countries should further promote cooperation and take effective measures to ensure border security.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s freshly-ended visit to Laos made headlines of Laos’ media with various stories highlighting that the visit will contribute to deepen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Seventeen Vietnamese officials, volunteer experts and soldiers who had performed international missions in Laos were awarded with the orders and medals of Laos at a ceremony held in the northern mountainous province of Son La on November 25.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Lao former Party chief and former President Khamtay Siphandone at his home on November 25.

Vietnam and Laos have issued a Joint Statement on the occasion of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit from November 24-26 at the invitation of Lao Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith.

Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office Nguyen Van Nen visited some former leaders of Laos on November 25, conveying to them best wishes from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The stability and development of Vietnam and Laos as well as of their special relationship is a critical and irreplaceable factor to each country’s national construction and protection.
