Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh made this statement during a recent meeting held with Michael Kretschmer, premier of Saxony , during which the Vietnamese diplomat highlighted the fruitful development of the friendship between the country and Saxony state over recent years.

He also expressed gratitude to the government of the German state for promoting ties of friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and Germany in general and Saxony in particular.

The Vietnamese diplomat therefore suggested that the state government consider promoting the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the state’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. This will contribute to creating a favourable framework for recruiting more Vietnamese skilled workers for German enterprises.

In response, Kretschmer said collaboration between the state and Vietnam has been developing positively over recent years, adding that the Vietnamese community in Saxony has made several important contributions to local cultural diversity.

In his role as president of the association of public universities in Saxony, Kretschmer affirmed his interest and strong desire to further promote co-operation between the two sides in education, research, and vocational training in a systematic and professional fashion.

Meeting with Ambassador Minh, Thomas Kralinski, state secretary for Economic Affairs and Labour of Saxony, showed his delight at Vietnamese economic growth, affirming that German businesses, especially those based in Saxony, are highly interested in increasing their investment in the country.

He added that the German locality has great experience in researching and developing renewable and green energy, therefore it is willing to connect with Vietnamese research institutes and universities to promote co-operation in this sphere.

He also adopted the proposal to sign an MoU relating to vocational training and recruitment of workers from Vietnam, outlining that relevant authorities of the state will discuss the issue in detail with the Vietnamese Embassy.

According to Kralinski, Leipzig has carried out many projects as it seeks to attract skilled workers from the country. In line with this, by the end of this year roughly 100 Vietnamese workers will come to the Eastern German city for work.

Kralinski expressed his desire to have the Embassy's full support in finding partners for the Leipzig Trade Fair, an event which is one of Germany's largest fairs, to launch fairs and exhibitions in both countries.

Ambassador Minh spoke glowingly of co-operation projects in vocational training and labour recruitment between Leipzig and Vietnamese localities, believing that the successes brought about by these programmes will contribute to benefiting the people of the two countries.

He hoped that the two sides will continue to work towards closer co-ordination and accelerate the implementation of these projects on a larger scale.

The Vietnamese diplomat used the occasion to invite Kretschmer and leaders of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time in the future, affirming that the Vietnamese Embassy is always ready to support Saxony in launching a range of investment promotion activities in the country.

During his visit to Saxony, Ambassador Minh also met with representatives of the Vietnamese association, veterans association, and Vietnam Buddhist cultural centre in Dresden.
