Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, received Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik Andre Henrik Christian on November 3 during the latter's working visit to the southern metropolis.

Appreciating the official visit to Vietnam by the Crown Prince of Denmark, Hoan expressed his delight at the strong development prospects ahead between Vietnam and Denmark after more than five decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, especially after nearly a decade of upgrading relations to a comprehensive partnership.

The ties between the two countries has made remarkable progress across a variety of fields in recent years, such as politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, education, and employment. Most notably, both sides shared experience in responding to climate change and building a green economy towards sustainable growth.

Sharing the socio-economic development of the southern city, Hoan emphasised that during the development process, Ho Chi Minh City continues to face plenty of difficulties and challenges, including traffic jams, flooding, and environmental damage.

The southern city is therefore well aware of its pioneering role in its actions to fulfill the commitment made by the Vietnamese Prime Minister to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050. In line with this, the nation has implemented many policies and actions to boost green and renewable energy development, Hoan told his host.

Appreciating the experience of Danish businesses, the municipal leader outlined his wish that Danish businesses share their experience and invest, as well as transferring technology to help the city progress faster in fulfilling commitments made the government to reduce net emissions to zero.

Ho Chi Minh City pledges to support and create favourable conditions for Danish businesses to promote long-term investment and business in the city in the field of green economic development and is ready to act as a bridge to help the products of Danish businesses penetrate the ASEAN market.

In response, Crown Prince Frederik shared the purpose of his official visit, as well as the positive results achieved with Vietnamese partners in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development.

He outlined his great appreciation for the Vietnamese Party and State’s political determination to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050, including decisions to develop wind and solar energy to serve the Vietnamese economy, which is currently developing both dynamically and strongly.

Crown Prince Frederik was positive of the development potential that exists for Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the dynamism, creativity, and industriousness of Vietnamese workers, noting that more than 80% of Danish businesses in Vietnam are based in Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring localities.

Danish businesses with strengths and experience in the field of green and renewal energy development are willing to co-operate with Ho Chi Minh City in the field of the green economy and sustainable development.

According to the Crown Prince, Ho Chi Minh City is to establish links with Danish businesses investing and conducting business in Vietnam in order to exchange experience, as well as boosting co-operation in the development of clean energy and circular energy to serve the process of promoting the city’s green economy and sustainable development.

He affirmed his nation's readiness to welcome delegations from Ho Chi Minh City to visit and learn from its own experience in wind and solar power generation moving forward. On the same day, the Danish Crown Prince participated in a number of activities held by typical Danish businesses investing and doing business in the southern city.
