The Q&A session saw Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha fielding queries. The session marked the first time the NA had implemented a new time rule that allows deputies to question for one minute and ministers to answer in three minutes.

NA deputies gave frank questions on issues that are concerning people nationwide like local management of land and corporate waste disposal, Nguyen Duc Hien, a retired public servant in Y La ward, Tuyen Quang city, the northern province of the same name, told Vietnam News Agency.

He said he was pleased with the answer delivered by Minister Ha, as the official cleared the causes and put forth solutions to problems and shortcomings in the environmental sector.

Do Viet Chung, a veteran in Tan Quang ward, Tuyen Quang city, said the quality of both questions and answers had improved, with questions presented in a frank manner.

He said Minister The did not avoid any questions and gave clear answers, adding that the official took responsibility for the shortcomings of the transport sector and pledged to tackle them.

Vu Xuan Manh, a resident in Hoa Cuong Bac ward, Hai Chau district, in the central city of Da Nang, said the quick question and concise answer model was effective, ending the presentation of long and unfocused questions.

Manh praised straightforward questions by NA deputies, particularly concerning build-operate-transfer projects.

Le Van Tan, a voter in Phong Nam commune, Phan Thiet city, the south central province of Binh Thuan, said the new time rule was praised for its efficiency, adding that it reflected the capacity of both questioners and answerers as they went straight to the core of the issue.

Tan said the environment minister gave clear and specific responses to hot topics raised at the session, particularly on pollution.

Voter Nguyen Van Hung from Phan Thiet city’s Hung Long ward said most of the answers were brief and specific.

Regarding ongoing environmental pollution and illegal sand exploitation, he said citizens expect to hear detailed solutions to tackle the pollution from the minister.
