Vietnam, China hold high-level talks

The two Party leaders of Vietnam and China have reached common perceptions on major orientations and drastic measures to further promote bilateral relations in the time to come at their talks on November 12 in Hanoi.

At talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and State President Xi Jinping, Party leader Trong congratulated his host on the success of the 19th Party National Congress and on his re-election as the General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, the 19th tenure. 

He showed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China led by Mr Xi Jinping, the Chinese people will fulfill the tasks set by the 19th Party National Congress and build China into a modern, democratic, civilized, harmonious, and beautiful country.

The Vietnamese Party leader praised China’s active participation and contributions to the success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. He reiterated that Vietnam treasures and sincerely desires to boost the neighborliness, friendship, and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China and supports its efforts to grow further and contribute positively to peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

Trong underlined the need to strengthen exchange of high-level delegations and sectors, and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in economics and other areas, while maintaining peace and stability, and settling well marine issues.

The Chinese top leader said that his nation treasures the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam. He agreed on major directions and measures to develop the relationship between the two Parties and countries proposed by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong. 

He showed his sympathy over huge losses caused by recent natural disasters in Vietnam. He added that both sides need to look at the China-Vietnam ties from the strategic viewpoint to make the relationship stable, healthy, and sustainable to benefit the two peoples and contribute to peace, development, and prosperity in the region.

The two Party leaders also informed each other of their respective country’s situation, reaching a consensus on major orientations and measures to boost the relations between the Parties and countries in the time ahead.

They noted with joy positive developments in the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, as evidenced by the regular high-level meetings, and strengthened cooperation between ministries, localities and peoples. They agreed that  two countries remain each other’s important economic partner, while trade, investment and tourism ties have enjoyed growth, and border situations on land and in the Gulf of Tonkin have basically been stable.

Both sides consented to uphold the achieved results, and work closely to  deal with existing difficulties and shortcomings aiming to develop the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership on a stable and sustainable basis.

After the talks, both leaders witnessed the signing of 19 cooperative documents. They include a Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese and Chinese governments on boosting connectivity of the “Two corridors, one belt” framework with the “Road and Belt” initiative, a Memorandum of Understanding on speeding up negotiations for the framework agreement on building border economic cooperative zones and another Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a working group for ecommerce between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Chinese Ministry of Trade.
