Vietnam – Italia: Bilateral trade increased 10 times

PSNews – “The Annual Area Meeting of the Italian Chambers of Commerce in Asia and South Africa” held in Vietnam aims to promote trade and investment of Italia in Asia, especially in Vietnam.

The Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICHAM) in Vietnam held a press conference on “The Annual Area Meeting of the Italian Chambers of Commerce in Asia and South Africa” on April 3, bringing opportunities for Vietnamese and Italian enterprises to meet and exchange in accelerating trade between the two countries.

According to Italian Ambassador in Vietnam Cecilia Piccioni, multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Italia have increasingly grown since the Vietnam visits of former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi (2014), of President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella (2015); and the visit of President Tran Dai Quang (to Italy 2016).

“Two-way trade between Vietnam and Italy achieved significant outcomes as it has grown more than 10 fold in the past ten years, reaching over USD 4.6 billion in 2016. Italian investment in Vietnam rose to USD 360 million with 78 projects in 2016”, said Ambassador Cecilia.

She also believed that the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, which is scheduled to come in effect in 2018, will serve as a leverage for relations between Vietnam and EU, and Vietnam and Italia.

Within the framework of this meeting, Chairman of ICHAM in Vietnam Michele D’Ercole released that the business forum “Italia – Asia: Doing Business together” will take place on April 4 with the participation of 11 ICHAMs in Asia and South Africa.

Vice Chairman of Assocamerestero Federico Donato stressed that this event to be held in Vietnam will help boost Italian trade and investment in Asia, especially in Vietnam.

At the forum, speakers will focus on market trends and business opportunities for both Italian and Vietnamese enterprises, offer opportunity for local companies to access the Italian market as well as other Asian markets through ICHAM in the region.
