Viettel wins big at Telecom Asia Awards 2019

PSNews- Viettel's project to develop a centre for smart city administration in Vietnam's Hue city won the “Most Innovative Smart Cities Project” title at the Telecom Asia Awards 2019.

The winners of Telecom Asia Awards 2019 were officially announced on May 20 that Viettel won two big awards for the best innovative product and CEO of regional ICT companies.

Accordingly, Viettel's project to develop Vietnam's Hue city into an intelligent communication, called Hue City Intelligent Operations Center, won the “Most Innovative Smart Cities Project” title at the Telecom Asia Awards 2019.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thanh Nam, Executive Director of Mytel (Viettel's subsidiary in Myanmar) during the period of 2017-2018, won the category of "Telecom CEO of the Year".

The Hue City Intelligent Operations Center project, aiming at building a centre for smart city administration  for all public projects and historical sites of Hue city following the city's conditions and characteristics, was put into operation in 2018.

The project is highly appreciated for its flexibility and intelligence, which has improved the quality of public services, bringing convenience to locals and tourists.

Meanwhile, under CEO Nam's leadership, Mytel gained a record of 6 million subscribers after 11 months of its operation in Myanmar. Mytel has also become the third largest mobile operator in Myanmar in terms of market share.

In addition to the above awards, Viettel's Keeng Movies - the largest repository of copyrighted contents in Vietnam with more than two million regular viewers, including 300,000 subscribers, has been listed in top four of the Most Innovative Video Services.

Another Viettel product, called ViettelPay, named as one of the four Most Innovative Mobile Payment Services in Asia.

Regarding the category of Telecom CEO of the Year, Tran Van Bang, General Director of Telemor (Viettel's subsidiary in Timor-Leste) has been honored as one of the four best telecom CEO in the continent.
