The Government deeply understands, sympathises, and shares both the spiritual and material difficulties faced by citizens over the past year since the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, said PM Chinh.
According to the PM, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to the national economy, seriously affecting business production and the lives of ordinary people.
Implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures is considered to be the most important and urgent task at present, he stressed, adding that the Government will join with the entire political system and all people nationwide to curb the spread of the disease. This will be done by implementing strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures, especially with regard to rolling out the vaccine strategy across the country.
He went on to make assurances that the Government will promote research and technology transfer in order to proactively produce domestic vaccines and vaccinate the entire population free of charge in a timely, safe, and effective manner, aiming to achieve herd immunity by early 2022.
“Calamity is man’s true touchstone. The Government expects the people will firmly believe, unite, and voluntarily strictly abide by COVID-19 guidelines, so as not to squander frontline forces’ hard work. We have the right to hope and believe that after rain comes sunshine,” PM Chinh said.
As of 6:00 a.m. on July 29, the nation has recorded 119,863 new COVID-19 cases in 62 out of 63 cities and provinces following the resurgence of the virus in late April, along with 123,640 cases since the initial onset of the first outbreak in January 2020.
More than 5.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have now been administered nationwide, with 496,630 people receiving their second shot.
