Home-stay tourism in Sa Pa attracts visitors

PSNews - A large number of visitors have come to visit and stay in villages of Sa Pa district (Lao Cai) since the beginning of the New Year 2018 to experience the unique culture of local ethnic minorities.

The home-stay service in Ta Van, Lao Chai and Ta Phin villages is always fully booked by both domestic and international travelers. Home-stay is a type of accommodation for visitors who'd like to learn the cultural customs and practices of local people by living and working with them.

Located in the Muong Hoa valley at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son range, Ta Van commune attracts visitors by natural views  along the paths leading to the villages. Particularly, there are terraced fields, high mountains and many old houses from distance, which creates a pristine beautiful picture on the background of the green mountains.

Visitor Nguyen Phuong Nam from Binh Duong, who just spending 3 nights with a local family in Ta Phin said that the local house is very clean and cozy, and local people are very professional.

He went on to say that although he and his friends were living with the hosts but they still had their own space and were able to cook their own meals. Nam considered this service a good option for youngsters who enjoy discovering new things.

Besides the traditional home-stay service, there are also several companies investing in new ways of the home-stay service in Ta Van but the new home-stay services still feature the identity of the local culture.

According to Le Manh Hao, Vice Chairman of the Sa Pa District People’s Committee, there are nearly 500 accommodations in the district with 6,000 rooms, including 174 home-stay establishments in Ta Van, Lao Chai, Hau Thao, Nam Sai, Ta Phin, Ban Ho, Thanh Phu and Thanh Kim communes with 2,800 beds in total. Those home-stay facilities welcome nearly 3,000 visitors per day.

Sa Pa district is focusing on community-based tourism, a local strength, to reduce the number of visitors staying in Sa Pa town during holidays, at the same time to increase incomes of locals and preserve traditional cultural values.
