Speaking at the reception, Minister Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated BSA’s pioneering role and global as well as regional prestige across the Asia-Pacific through its numerous effective programs and activities. The Minister emphasized that BSA is not only a representative organization for major technology corporations, but also an important partner in promoting digital transformation and establishing ethical technology standards, thereby contributing to creating a fair and secure digital business environment.
Briefing the guest on major orientations of the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam, Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that the Ministry has been assigned by the Government to serve as the standing agency for a major project on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, while striving toward the goal of building regular, elite, and modern Public Security Forces by 2030.
Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted that in the digital era, data has become a vital resource and a key driver of socio-economic development. Viet Nam is step-by-step perfecting a transparent, feasible legal framework aligned with advanced international standards, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and APEC’s Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) system. The official entry into force of the Law on Data marks a significant step forward in defining data-related rights and obligations while enhancing trust and safety in cyberspace.
On this basis, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides seek to expand cooperation in cybersecurity, cloud computing, quantum technology, data analytics and high-quality human resource development, while exchanging experiences in law enforcement regarding intellectual property, cross-border data flows, privacy rights and digital trade.
Furthermore, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that BSA continue sharing information and materials on potential areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security. He instructed functional units under the ministry to study and propose practical, effective cooperation initiatives.
On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang also suggested that BSA leverage its role as a bridge connecting its member corporations and enterprises with the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam, particularly in supplying technological solutions and equipment, thereby deepening bilateral cooperation and yielding concrete results
For his part, Mr. Jared Ragland expressed his gratitude to Minister Luong Tam Quang for taking the time to receive the delegation and engage in an open discussion on issues of mutual concern. He highly praised Viet Nam for its large efforts in building and perfecting the legal framework for the digital economy.
Sharing insights and experience in digital transformation, data governance and data protection, Mr. Jared Ragland reaffirmed BSA’s commitment to strengthening exchanges and coordination with the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and serving as a bridge to its member technology companies, thereby fostering practical cooperation aligned with the needs and strengths of each side.
