Dang Minh Sang, 31, son of Tran Thi Lan, was the doer.

Upon receiving the report, Luong Van Vu, Vice Head of the An Khanh Commune Police Post, and his colleague, Tran Van Minh, rushed to the scene but Sang had already escaped.

While the police officers were writing the minutes of the case, Sang came back with Nguyen Manh Thang (22, resident of Vinh Binh commune, Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city). Thang asked the police not to make a record and argued that this was his family’s issue.

When Vu and Minh explained to Sang about their duties, Thang suddenly attacked Minh and Vu with a knife. The two stabbed policemen were then taken to hospital, but Vu could not last out due to his severe injuries.

After attacking the policemen, Thang ran away and was later captured by a working police mission of the Ben Tre Provincial Police Department on April 26 while hiding in Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City.

The police are now gathering documents to handle the attackers in line with the laws.

Vu's funeral was held locally, according to the funeral protocol of the police.
