Vietnam's top leader arrives in New York for UNGA 81 high-level debate

Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hai Luu, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, affirmed that Vietnam will continue to work closely with the UN and international partners to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of peacekeeping operations.

The visit, the first to Japan by the leader in his new capacity and the first visit to Japan by a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 11 years, will first set the overall strategic direction for bilateral relations in the new period, enabling leaders of the two countries to identify long-term cooperation orientations and priority areas that meet the development needs of both sides.

People-to-people diplomacy is a key, regular task of the entire political system and people. The draft law on protecting infrastructure related to national security should spell out core conditions, including the level of impact on national security, the risk of disrupting essential operations, and the need for special protection. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam attended a ceremony in the southern province of Vinh Long on November 5 to mark the National Great Unity Day (November 18) and Vietnam Culture Day 2026 (November 24).

The 16th National Assembly is scheduled to discuss the draft Law on Data Security, the draft Law on Electronic Identification and Authentication, and the draft revised Law on Handling of Administrative Violations during its plenary sitting on November 4, as part of its ongoing second session.

Lao NA Sonexay Siphandone, who is on official Vietnam visit, urged the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam friendship associations to keep coordinating closely and step up messaging on the two countries’ great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion, especially around the treaty’s 50th anniversary.
