Adressing at a press conference after the final match, Vietnam's head coach Park Hang-seo said: "I am very happy. This Championship has been amazing. This is our best performance yet in the two months leading to the AFF Cup this year."

Meanwhile, Malaysian coach Tan Cheng Hoe admitted: "Vietnam was too good in this year's AFF Cup." He added that he hoped Vietnam could continue to showcase similar performances in future tournaments.

At the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam scored an early goal to put victory virtually out of Malaysia's grasp, having scored two away goals in a first leg draw.
