Foreign leaders congratulate Vietnam on National Day

Leaders of foreign countries have extended their congratulations to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945).

China’s Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping cabled a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong while Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress Li Zhanshu extended congratulations to Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, respectively.

In their messages, the Chinese leaders affirmed that China attaches great importance to developing relations with Vietnam, and is willing to join Vietnam in strengthening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a stable and sustainable manner, towards celebrating 70 years of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2020.

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou extended their congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, respectively.

The Lao leaders affirmed that regardless of the complicated developments in the regional and international situations, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao Parties, States and peoples have always been maintained and nurtured, becoming invaluable common assets of the two countries.

They expressed their deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their valuable, timely and effective support to the Lao revolutionary cause, and affirmed that the Party, State and people of Laos will continue joining Vietnam in maintaining, nurturing and developing the Vietnam-Laos special relationship.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Cambodian Prime Minister Techo Hun Sen and Acting President of the Senate of Cambodia Sim Ka sent respective congratulatory letters to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The Cambodian People’s Party Central Committee also cabled a message of congratulations to the CPV Central Committee.

In their messages, the Cambodian leaders spoke highly of the solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two countries, affirming their determination to continuously foster the bilateral relations. 

They also expressed their belief that the Vietnam-Cambodia ties will continue to be enhanced and deepened for the common interests of the two countries as well as for peace, cooperation and prosperity in the region.

President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez sent his congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Meanwhile, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Raul Castro cabled a congratulatory message to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

In their messages, the Cuban leaders extended best wishes to the senior Vietnamese leaders, expressing their belief that Cuba and Vietnam will continue to solidify the historic brotherly relations and cooperation. They affirmed their wish to tighten ties and solidarity between the two nations, Parties and Governments.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev extended congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, respectively. Meanwhile, President of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Viaсheslav Volodin sent congratulatory messages to Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The Russian leaders highly appreciated the traditional friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, which are growing extensively across all fields, especially the economy, trade and investment with many big projects on energy, industry and infrastructure. 

They said they believe that the activities within the framework of the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam in 2019 and 2020 will create a new impulse for the acceleration of bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob sent congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, while Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong extended congratulations to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Singaporean leaders said they were glad that Vietnam and Singapore have built bilateral strategic partnership with firm foundation of close political relations, people-to-people exchange, and effective economic cooperation.

They affirmed to support and closely work with Vietnam as the country holds the position of ASEAN Chair in 2020 and non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.

In his congratulatory message sent to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha affirmed his determination to strengthen coordination with Vietnam to further deepen the relations between the two countries for the sake of their peoples and common benefits of the whole region.

On the occasion, Myanmar President U Win Myint cabled a congratulatory message to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, while Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi sent congratulations to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Myanmar Vice Presidents U Myint Swe and Henry Van Thio sent letters of congratulations to Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

The Myanmar leaders highly appreciated the reinforcement of the friendship and comprehensive cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar over the past time, and expressed their belief that the bilateral relations will continue thriving in the coming years for the common interests of the two peoples as well as peace, stability in the region, and solidarity and unity in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Also on this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh received congratulations from Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, and Myanmar’s Minister of International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin.
