Goods retail sales and service revenue rise by almost 11% in H1

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue saw a year-on-year increase of 10.9% to reach over VND3 quadrillion during the first half of the year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

Specifically, in the January to June period revenue from retail sales of goods stood at VND2.37 quadrillion, up 9.3% from last year.

An upturn was recorded in sales of food and foodstuff at 13.5%, garments and textiles at 9.5%, educational and cultural products at 9.3%, home appliances at 4%, and transport vehicle excluding automobiles at 2.5%.

Furthermore, a strong rise was seen in revenue from the retail sales of goods in many localities, led by Binh Duong at 15.6%, Quang Ninh at 14.5%, Hai Phong at 14%, Dong Nai at 12.3%, Khanh Hoa at 9.7%, Can Tho at 9.4%, Da Nang at 5.7%, Hanoi at 4.4%, and Ho Chi Minh City at 3.7%.

Meanwhile, revenue from accommodation and food services throughout the first six months was at an estimated VND321.7 trillion, up 18.7% over the same period from last year.

Moreover, tourism revenue surged by 65.9% from the previous year to around VND14.5 trillion, with a sharp increase in revenue from the tourism industry being recorded in Da Nang, up by 174%, Hanoi, up by 106.9%, Hai Phong, up by 93.2%, Ho Chi Minh City, up by 78.5%, and Quang Ninh, up by 51.7%.

The reviewed period saw revenue from other services reach about VND303.4 trillion, up by 14.4% against the same period from 2022.
