The programme, launched on July 8 by the association and the national humanitarian information portal and will last until September 4, aims to raise at least 1.5 billion VND to buy necessities, build and repair houses for the households hard hit by the recent floods and landslides in the northern mountainous areas, as well as help the victims find ways to earn their living.

On August 11 alone, the central committee of the association encouraged staff of 13 Lotte commercial centres throughout the country to join the programme. Volunteers also conducted activities to attract customers visiting the centres to the humanitarian campaign.

In order to mobilise resources for the programme, the committee called on all of the association’s chapters nationwide to encourage members, volunteers, organizations and people of all walks of life to join hands for the victims.

With the donations, the association has provided emergency relief worth over 1 billion VND to the victims. It also called for larger participation from all the organizations and individuals inside and outside the country.

Donations in cash or in kind should be addressed to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Association at No. 82 Nguyen Du Street, Hanoi, or the Representative Office of the Vietnam Red Cross Association at No. 201 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Money can be transferred to the account of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Association, account No. 124 0202 005348 at the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hoang Mai branch.
