The city is forecast to be home to about 1.6 million people, including about 1.3 million urban residents in 2020. The respective figures are 2.5 million and 2.3 million in 2030.

The adjustment tasks include reviewing the 2013 version of the master plan for the city and evaluating approved planning in the locality along with current development pace and growth directions.

Forecast will be made on development demand and new growth opportunities in the new period. Measures will be drafted to deal with problems in technical infrastructure, especially transport, and issues related to the environment and climate change, with a view to ensure a harmony between the city’s development directions and the strategic requirements on fostering a sustainable sea-based economy and smart and sustainable city.

A new development vision for the city will be defined based on the idea of a green, modern, smart city of globalisation with its own identity.

In addition, the growth trend of the urban chain along the central coast will be assessed along with its impact on the planning and development of Da Nang. Meanwhile, the economic development of the city will be evaluated through detailed criteria, including employment structure, population ratio, labour, population allocation, income, migration and issues related to urbanisation.

The assessment of land use in the city and problems in technical structure system are also among the adjustment tasks.
