Vietnam calls for USTDA's support in strategic projects

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his belief that combining Vietnam’s strengths, dynamic economy, development ambitions and innovation opportunities with Stanford’s global knowledge, talent and networks will help establish an effective cooperation model between academia and practice, universities and businesses, and technology and people, generating new value and practical benefits for both sides and the region.

On September 20, 1977, Vietnam officially became the 149th member state of the United Nations (UN). Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Jim Nickel said that Canada regards the visit as an opportunity to further advance bilateral relations, reflecting their substantive nature and enormous potential.

The trip is expected to make an important contribution to further strengthening and deepening Vietnam’s relations with the UN, the US and its partners; promoting more substantive and closely connected Vietnam–Canada ties; and affirming Vietnam’s proactive, active and responsible role in global issues, as well as its active contribution to regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development.

Addressing the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam highlighted the event’s particularly important significance, saying that it marks a new chapter in the history of building and developing the land of Kinh Bac, which boasts a rich tradition of culture, revolutionary history, dynamism and creativity.

General Secretary and President To Lam’s attendance and important speech at UNGA 81 will reaffirm Vietnam's strong support for and commitment to the central role of the UN in multilateral cooperation and the promotion of respect for international law.

The Party Central Committee’s Political Bureau and Secretariat convened a conference in Hanoi on September 18 to announce a series of personnel decisions, which was attended by Politburo Member and Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.

Amid a rapidly changing and complex world, the top leader asked the diplomatic sector, particularly ambassadors, to remain steadfast in principles while being flexible in tactics, maintain independence and self-reliance, proactively safeguard national interests, and seek new advantages and opportunities for the country while contributing to common peace and development.

The visit demonstrated the special importance that the Thai Royal Family, State and people attach to Vietnam. Given the Royal Family’s distinctive role in Thailand’s spiritual, historical and cultural life, the visit also strengthened people-to-people exchanges and bonds.

General Secretary and President Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with Thailand, expressing his hope that the two nations will continue to work together, support each other's development, and contribute to regional peace, stability, and growth.

A 21-gun salute was fired from the Thang Long Imperial Citadel to welcome the Thai King and Queen, who are paying a state visit to Vietnam from September 14 to 16.

The National Defence Academy must track global and regional developments closely, accurately size up partners and rivals, and stay ahead of changes in the international security environment. It should produce practical output, such as strategic forecasts, early warning and policy proposals, and absorb global military advances and technology without copying foreign models outright.
