According to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Japan accounted for the highest number of Vietnamese workers during the January-May phase with 28,500 people.

It was followed by Taiwan with 26,200, South Korea with 1,210 and China with 729. In May alone, around 9,700 Vietnamese workers went to work abroad, including 5,300 to Japan; 3,500 to Taiwan; 192 to Hungary, 185 to Singapore; 106 to South Korea and 89 to China.

South Korea has shortened visa administrative procedures for foreign workers in the shipbuilding sector to ease its workforce shortage. This has opened more opportunities for overseas workers, including Vietnamese.

Japan is expected to receive the largest number of Vietnamese workers, with half of the country's overseas labourers already employed there. In addition to Japan, more European countries are interested in recruiting Vietnamese workers.
