The event, organised by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Green Growth Sector Committee of EuroCham, was attended by about 100 delegates in person and over 300 others online.

Opening the workshop, VCCI Chairman and VBCSD Co-Chairman Vu Tien Loc said the transition to a circular economy will help guarantee the security of raw material supply, respond to climate change, promote innovation, enhance competitiveness, and create new job opportunities.

Encouraging Vietnamese businesses to adopt circular economy practices is one of the key priorities of the VBCSD-VCCI, he noted, adding that the VBCSD-VCCI launched an initiative in 2018 to assist firms in this regard as it realised such practices’ substantial benefits for the sustainable development of enterprises as well as the realisation of the national action programme to carry out the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Participants were updated on circular economy policies in Vietnam, circular economy principles in construction, and experience in applying the circular economy model by some outstanding businesses and organisations like PRO Vietnam, Vinamilk, Siam City Cement Vietnam, and BASF Vietnam.

The Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum is the most important annual dialogue promotion activity of the VBCSD-VCCI.

This year’s event focuses on sustainable corporate governance, circular economy promotion in response to climate change, and public-private partnership, which are also major issues needing to be dealt with to boost inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth in 2021-2030.

Opinions at breakout sessions will be considered to be submitted to the forum’s plenary session slated for November 2 and reported to the Government.
