The Public Security Forces of Vietnam have attached importance to gender equality, strengthened the role of female police officers and soldiers, and prevented violence against women over the past years. In return, female police officers and soldiers have made important contributions to national security, social order and safety, and force building.

So far, 35 female public security officers have been given the title “Heroes of People Armed Forces,” 27  female public security officers have been leaders of departments, and one female public security officer has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.

The delegates discussed related issues and provided useful information and international experiences of gender equality in the Asia – Pacific region, reviewed the role of women in law enforcement in ASEAN countries and the role of female public security officers in Vietnam. They also listened to experience in practicing gender equality and preventing violence against women in Australia, the UK, New Zealand and Laos.
