More than 600 artists, actors and actresses will show off their talents at the 2021 National Drama Festival, which is set to be held in the northern portal city of Hai Phong from November 5-16.

More than 600 artists, actors and actresses will show off their talents at the 2021 National Drama Festival, which is set to be held in the northern portal city of Hai Phong from November 5-16.

The participants come from 14 art units, including Vietnam National Drama Theatre, Hanoi Drama Theatre, the Army Drama Theatre, the Youth Theatre, Le Ngoc Drama Stage, the Experimental Theatre Club under the Vietnam Stage Artists' Association, People's Public Security Theatre, Hanoi Stage Association, Phu Tho Art Troupe, Hai Phong Drama Troupe, Hai Duong Provincial Cultural and Art Centre, Lam Son Music, Song and Dance Theatre, Quang Ninh Art Troupe, and a club from the Hai Phong Stage’s Association.

According to the NDO, the festival will introduce 20 plays covering a range of topics, especially those in response to the campaign to study and follow the President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle as well as the Party Central Committee’s resolutions on Party building and the development of Vietnamese culture and people.

The participating plays will be livestreamed on Vietnamese performing arts channels on YouTube. The opening and closing ceremonies for the festival will be broadcast live on Hai Phong Radio and Television.

Due to high risks of COVID-19 outbreak, the organising board asked the art units to strictly comply with the regulations related to pandemic prevention and control. The art troupes from the southern provinces and cities will be arranged to participate in the festival at an appropriate time.
