An Giang opens stamp exhibition to commemorate late President Ton Duc Thang

PSNews – Recently, the An Giang Stamp Association  in collaboration with the An Giang Museum opened a stamp exhibition for students, marking the 130th birthday of late President Ton Duc Thang (August 20).

With the theme “Life and revolutionary career of late President Ton Duc Thang and Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly), the exhibition aims to educate patriotism to students and promote the beauty images of Vietnamese people and tourism.

According to the organizing board, collecting stamp is considered practical activity which helps students form patience, meticulousness. On this occasion, the organization board also launched a movement calling on students to collect stamps and participate in stamp exhibitions in the province.

The content of each stamp or stamp collection must be clear, in line with our traditional culture and must be permitted to publish by the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Earlier, farmer Tran Huu Hue of An Giang province, owns stamps of great historical value, including two collections: “Hoang Sa soldiers in the 17th and 18th century” and “Hoang Sa and Truong Sa in ancient maps”.

“As a stamp collector, I got the idea of using stamps to promote Vietnam’s sovereignty over its sea and islands. I sent envelopes with stamps of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa to many countries and got them back with the stamps sealed by those countries in recognition of Vietnam’s sovereignty over those archipelagoes,” Hue elaborated.

Hue was the first person in Vietnam to introduce Hoang Sa and Truong Sa stamps to the world to promote Vietnam’s landscape and people. Currently, he has 76 stamps of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa sealed by 60 countries.
