Bodies of Vietnamese victims in Egypt bomb blast brought home

An airplane carrying the bodies of three Vietnamese people, who were killed in a recent roadside bomb in Egypt, arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on early January 6.

The deceased included two tourists, Tran Hoa Khanh (1961) and Nguyen Thuy Quynh (1962), and tour guide Nguyen Trong Tien (1989).

At the airport, an official of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) conveyed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien’s deepest condolences to the relatives of the ill-fated victims.

Also, the VNAT official hailed efforts made by competent authorities in addressing the incident, supporting the injured and taking them home.

The same day, Saigontourist Travel Company completed prescribed procedures to take the bodies of the three victims home to organise funeral services.

With three injured people who are receiving treatment in Egypt, the company will continue working with Egyptian hospital and Bao Viet Insurance Corporation to return them home as soon as possible.

The three Vietnamese people were killed and 12 others were wounded when a bomb blast hit their bust near the world famous Giza pyramids at 18:15 on December 28 (Egypt time). They were on the way to the airport to return home, concluding a seven-day tour organised by Ho Chi Minh City-based travel agency Saigontourist.

There were 18 people on the bus at that time, including 15 Vietnamese people and three Egyptians, said the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.
