Community-based COVID-19 prevention teams operate effectively in HCMC

PSNews– There are 19,000 active community-based COVID-19 prevention teams in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), with 52,000 members who are policemen, local officials, local civil guards, social workers and medical workers.

Although being very busy preparing for the election of the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils, these days, members of the community-based COVID-19 prevention team of Ward 2, Tan Binh District, HCMC still came to local residential areas to remind local people of following COVID-19 prevention regulations.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tang Thai (Aged 66), Vice Head of Residential Group No.8 in Ward 2, the residential group has 16 community-based COVID-19 prevention teams with 38 members.

The establishment of community-based COVID-19 prevention teams is necessary, he said, as Residential Group No.8 is next to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the accommodations for Vietnam Airlines flight attendants.

He affirmed that, thanks to the effort of the COVID-19 prevention teams, local people and visitors have become more aware of following COVID-19 regulations.

In District 12, since the end of 2020, the local People’s Committee has established 1,615 community-based COVID-19 prevention teams in 11 wards.

Since District 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases, members of the COVID-19 prevention teams have successfully traced hundreds of F1 and F2 cases, thus contributing to preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Nha Be District has a lot of rivers and cannels and there is an international maritime route passing through the locality. So the local authority attaches much importance to prevention and control of COVID-19.

Nha Be District has 439 community-based COVID-19 prevention teams with 1,090 members. Thanks to the efficient operation of these teams, the district has achieved positive results of COVID-19 prevention and control.

In particular, local people have joint the local authority to prevent crewmembers and visitors aboard from illegally entering locality while all F1 and F2 cases of COVID-19 patients have quickly been traced.

According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Thu, Vice Chairman of the Nha Be District People’s Committee, members of the community-based COVID-19 prevention teams are excellent scouts in tracing COVID-19 cases.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee said that all members of the community-based COVID-19 prevention teams have been trained in COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.

Therefore, they have contributed to detecting cases of illegal entry as well as COVID-19 patients in the community.

They also supported the medical force to trace people having contacted with COVID-19 patients, and watched households living in the COVID-19 isolated areas.
