Ho Chi Minh City continues to record the highest number of daily infections with 1,547, trailed by Binh Duong with 688, and Tay Ninh with 564. Elsewhere, Hanoi confirmed 260 new cases, with the majority being detected among the community.

As of November 21, over 108 million vaccine doses have been administered across the country. Indeed, nearly 42 million people are now fully inoculated, and almost 67 million people have received one dose of the vaccine.

Following the latest infections, the total caseload currently amounts to 1,094,514, of which 1,091,662 have been detected during the fourth wave of infections that hit the nation in April.

The Ministry also confirmed 190 COVID-19 fatalities over the past 24 hours, thereby raising the COVID-19 death toll since the beginning of the pandemic to more than 23,950.

The nation is ranked 34th out of 223 countries and territories in terms of infections, with the country being placed at 133rd for cases per one million people.

A total of 4.776 patients were also released from hospital the same day, thereby raising the total recoveries to 910,276.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has urged cities and provinces nationwide to accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations in order to cover all citizens aged 18 and older with at least one vaccine shot, whilst also accelerating rollout of the second doses.

Localities must actively review the use of vaccines, particularly the number of administered vaccine doses and those being unused, in addition to reporting reasons behind delays in vaccinations, it said.

Provincial and municipal Health Departments have also been requested to calculate how many vaccine doses they need to cover all residents aged 12 and above until the end of this year and demand moving into 2022.
