In the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee decided to offer free COVID-19 RT-PCR testing for 1,800 workers at Sa Dec industrial park, after recording more cases in the community.

Moreover, the province is conducting a general review and inspection at Sa Dec industrial park, ensuring operating businesses to strictly deploy regulations regarding on-site production, on-site accomodation and on-site physical distancing, with an aim to stabilise production and minimise the spread of the pandemic. Violating businesses will be forced to suspend operations.

As of July 21, Vietnam reported 5.357 new infections of COVID-19, including 14 imported cases. Of the cases, there are 109 patients in Dong Thap.

Currently, the Vietnamese Government has reached agreements relating to the transfer of technology for COVID-19 vaccines from Russia and the United States, according to Reuters. This comes after the Minister of Health issued a decision in May aimed at establishing a steering committee for the research programme on technology transfer and production of COVID-19 vaccines.

Previously in June, No. 1 Vaccine and Biological Products Company Limited (VABIOTECH) signed an agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund regarding the production of vaccine tubes of Sputnik V from semi-finished products, with a scale of five million doses per month. VABIOTECH is also in the process of negotiating with a Japanese partner in order to receive the transfer of vaccine production technology in the near future.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health also said that, the country's home-grown vaccine, NanoCovax, was expected to be widely administered by the end of 2021.
