Measures sought to enhance tourism linkages in Vietnam

Leaders of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and localities in the country's Central key economic region committed to efficiently promoting the cooperation to work out joint tourist product at a recent tourism forum in Quang Nam province.

On November 27 a forum on development of tourism linkages among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the Central key economic region, opened in Quang Nam province.

At the forum, leaders of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the Central key economic region localities (Thua Thien-Hue, Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and Binh Dinh) signed an agreement on regional tourism linkages and development in the period of 2021-2025 and through the plan to jointly launch tourist products in the 2020-2021 period.

The cooperation agreement includes coordination in state management for tourism; development of tourism products; tourism promotion and human resource development.

For the realization of the agreement, the parties will focus on exchanging information; setting new directions in local tourism development; exploiting the values of natural tourism resources, diversity and characteristics of the region and the system of cultural relics, history, craft villages, and other regional advantages.

Chairman of the Quang Nam Province People’s Committee Le Tri  Thanh said the region had a lot of potential for tourism development with four airports, five sea ports and a 600km coastline.

He said the region also included three UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites, including the Hue Monuments Complex, Hoi An town, My Son Sanctuary and Cham Island-Hoi An world biosphere reserve in Quqng Nam as well as world intangible heritages.

The region also offers sea and islands tour services with pristine white sand beaches stretching from Thua Thien Hue  to Binh Dinh province.

Meanwhile, also during the event, representatives from travel firms proposed strategic measures to raise competitiveness of the tourism industry during and after the pandemic, as well as policies to accelerate restructuring of the sector post-COVID-19 pandemic.

They discussed how to speed up digital transformation in tourism development as well as proposed cooperation models among investors to further enhance tourism promotion in the coming time.
