Over 1,100 domestic and foreign artists participate in Ha Long Carnival 2018

PSNews – The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee officially kicked off the Ha Long Carnival 2018 on April 26 with the theme “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination” as the first festival of the National Tourism Year 2018.  

The Ha Long Carnival 2018 features three main topics including: discovering spiritual and festive lands, discovering vibrant ethnic colors and Ha Long - legend and international exchanges.

Through these topics, the images of Yen Tu mountain, traditional festivals, long beaches and high-end hotels and entertainment zones were brought closer to the tourists than ever.

In particular, with meticulous preparation, the parade of the opening ceremony has become an impressive highlight, making significant contributions to the success of Carnival Ha Long 2018.

Moreover, the Ha Long Carnival 2018 attracted the participation and performance of more than 1,000 domestic and foreign artists. It is projected to host at least 51 cultural, sports and tourism events throughout the year.

Tickets will be distributed free for local people and tourists at Ha Long city and the entrance of Sun Carnival Square, the venue of the ceremony, which is able to host more than 10,200 spectators.

According to the provincial Tourism Department, Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome about 575,000 visitors during the four-day holiday (from April 28 - May 1) celebrating the National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1), representing a rise of 25% year-on-year.

Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 12 million visitors this year, including five million foreigners, and earn VND22 trillion (US$968 million) in tourism revenue.

In 2017, it received 9.87 million arrivals, including 4.28 million foreigners, up 18% and 23% annually, respectively. The sector earned over VND17.88 trillion (US$786.9 million), up 30% compared to the previous year, and contributed VND3.2 trillion (US$140.8 million) to the State budget, accounting for 11.9% of the local budget collection.
