Southern folk cake festival opens in Can Tho

 The seventh edition of the southern folk cake festival themed “Origin of traditional cakes” is taking place in the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho City from April 25- 29 with the aim of preserving and promoting the culinary cultural value and southern traditional cakes.
The festival offers a chance for participating businesses to expand their cooperation and promote their images and brands to customers.

This year’s event attracted 200 stands showcasing a wide variety of folk cakes, food and drinks, specialities, and cake making materials of exhibitors from 20 provinces and cities nationwide and from other countries like Japan, France, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on April 25, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Van Tam said the annual festival, which is the 7th edition so far, has become a major event of the region. 

It provides a chance to promote the land, people and cultural identity of the southern region, and introduce traditional cakes, contributing to preserving and upholding cuisine culture values, towards building a national trademark for the local cakes.
