Vietnam press museum to open on June 19

PSNews - The Vietnam Press Museum will receive visitors from June 19, aiming to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) as well as showing visitors valuable items and documents related to the Vietnamese press throughout the years.

Run by the Vietnam Journalists Association, the museum covers a total area of 1,500 square metres and has been divided into five areas including Vietnam’s press of the periods 1865-1925, 1925-1945, 1945-1954, 1954-1975, and from 1975 till present.

Le Kim Hoa, the curator of the Museum, said that over 20,000 artifacts and materials have been collected and will be displayed in the museum. Among them, around 700 are rare items and materials reflecting significant milestones in Vietnam’s press history.

In order to meet the public's demand, the museum makes use of all space by adopting digital technologies to showcase valuable documents that originate from different historical periods.

The project to initiate the Vietnam Press Museum was first granted approval by the Prime Minister back on August 21, 2014, and was due to feature three major components, including a museum display component, an exhibition and material collection component, along with a recruitment and training component.

From August, 2014 to July, 2017, the museum management board has made efforts to collect press items and materials.

As reported, the Vietnam Journalist Association signed a strategic agreement with the Vietnam Press Museum and the School of Journalism and Communication and the Academy of Journalism and Communication in training, academic exchange and press skills, researches and cooperative programs.

The museum will open from 8am to 5pm at E2 Duong Dinh Nghe Road, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
