In addition to promoting law enforcement, Vietnam has also conducted education and dissemination activities on drug prevention and calling on the whole society to join hands in implementing various detoxification models and closely managing legal activities related to drug.

The leader of the Thai delegation appreciated Vietnam’s achievements in the field over the past time, especially the implementation of bilateral agreements on drug combat signed by Vietnam and Thailand in 1998. He also stressed that in addition to the joint efforts of the two governments and relevant forces, more effective methods are still needed in either drug combat or detoxification, applying new and effective models and methods to building a drug-free ASEAN community.

The conference runs from August 24 to 26.
