Vietnamese film honored at Eurasia Int'l Film Festival

PSNews – A Vietnamese film, named “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Way Station) was honored with the Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival 2017, which took place in Kazakhstan from July 22 to 28.

Overcoming nearly 300 entries to the 13th Eurasia International Film Festival 2017, The Way Station by Hong Anh, with the participation of Vietnamese famous actors, excelled 12 international films of the final round to win the Special Jury Prize.

The Eurasia International Film Festival is the biggest filmmaker forum in Central Asia, listed as a major world film festival by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). In 2012, Eurasia was listed as one of the 35 biggest festivals in the world by the International Film Guide of United Kingdom.

The festival regularly saw the participation of movie stars and celebrities of the worldwide film industry. “Dao cua dan ngu cu” is the first movie directed by Hong Anh.

 “I am really happy because Eurasia International Film Festival is one of the leading film festivals in the world, which has seen the participation of famous actors, namely Nicolas Cage, John Málkovich and Adrien Brody. My film was chosen by international juries, who felt the nature of the Vietnamese people through scenes”, said Director Hong Anh after the award ceremony.

Prior to its screening in Vietnam, the film was nominated in eight categories, setting a record at the 2017 ASEAN International Film Festival, and finally received Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Picture Director.

After the big success at the Eurasia International Film Festival, the film has been selected to challenge other movies at world famous film festivals such as BRISBANE 2017 International Film Festival (Australia) , Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2017 (Australia), Goteborg (Sweden) ...

The Way Station revolves around a small Vietnamese fishing village and the relationships between its inhabitants, each with their own inner struggles. The film’s screenplay was adapted from a short story by local author Do Phuc Tien.
